Texas Vacation Album by Dedra Long

Hey Everyone! Teresa's collections this CHA were fabulous. So many new fun embellishments were added to each collection. I immediately fell in love with the He Said, She Said collection. While this collection really wasn't designed for a travel or vacation theme, I reminded myself there are no rules to scrapbooking, right? So, I went for it.
I used Teresa's Memory Keeper Binder and started to devise a plan for the cover.

Once I had a direction I started selecting the three papers I wanted to sew together for the base of the cover. I measured the album cover and cut a piece of cardstock to that measurement. I then chose which patterned papers I wanted from the He Said, She Said Collection, I cut each one at an angle, adhered them to the piece of cardstock and then stitched them down.
I then added a piece of ceiling tin which was wrapped with the stitched garland from the collection. On some of the garland pieces I added an enamel dot to the centers and a little bling for good measure. On top of the ceiling tin I adhered a frame with some metal embellishments for that more "rustic" Texas look.
We spent eleven days in Texas. Jon had never been to Gun Barrel City, Texas (where my Grandma lives) and where I spent a lot of time in the summer. We went through some of the cities I grew up in outside of Dallas. I took minimal supplies with me to document each day we were there.
I journaled every night and kept memorabilia from each day. It was a very sentimental trip for me.

Here are the inside pages:

I loved the addition of file folders to each collection.

Each collection is so well coordinated that making and stitching pockets was super easy and fun!

Loving the chipboard as always and the new envelopes are super cute.

Here is one of the bigger file folders that I cut in half and was able to "file" memorabilia into it while making it it's own page within the book.

Enamel dots....be still my heart!

Another pocket that was stitched to hold fun memories.

I used Teresa's washi tape to make a little "photo flip".

One of the bigger file folders with a stitched pocket I created inside.

Our "welcome home" photo somewhere in the Arizona desert!
Thanks so much for stopping by.

  3. What an awesome little album, Dedra! Of course, being a Texas girl myself, I'm admittedly a bit biased. I love what you did for the cover. Thanks for the inspiration.
