Halloween Tree using the Masquerade Party

Hey there crafters, Brett Lund (1craftyguy) here to share one of my projects that I made for this past CHA. I used product from the Masquerade party, and made a very cute Halloween tree. The thing that I love so much about this line is there are so many different embellishments that you can use to spruce up your party favors, home decor, or whatever you are making. This was one line that I definately tried to think outside of the box, so I didn't just think of scrapbooking.

The tree is broken up into two separate parts, 1. the garland, and 2. the party favors. The garland was one of my most favorite things to create. I will post the instructions on my blog another day. I wanted to focus on the cute little party favors.

For the party favors, I used the Cricut machine to cut them out, I used the Sweet Treats cartridge, and the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 for the pillow box. However, I have noticed that the pillow box can be found in many different cartridges. For the black silhouetted images, I used the "Chic & Scary" cartridge that Teresa designed. (Man, I love that cartridge. If you don't have it, get it! It's awesome for Halloween. Her images coordinate perfectly with her Halloween line.)

I made three different party favors: 1. pillow boxes, 2. cupcake boxes, 3. take out boxes. In addition, I used her paper sacks and embellished them. Here are examples and how I made each of them.

1. Pillow boxes

For the pillow boxes, I cut a standard pillow box, and then I cut a strap of patterned paper to wrap around the box. I had the seam of the strip in the front, and then I took some chipboard shapes, put some pop dots on the back of the shapes and then glued them over the seam of the strip. Simple but elegant.

2. Cupcake boxes

For the cupcake boxes, I cut a small 2" box with a scalloped lid. (Sorry you really can't see it). For the circles, I cut out the circles from one of the patterned paper. The other embellishments were from the chipboard shapes. To add real dimension, I layered the shapes, and the circles. Some of the circles were with one pop dot, while the chipboard shape was with 2  pop dots. This gives the chipboard shapes even more dimension. (Did I tell you how much I love this line!)

3. Take out boxes

For the take out boxes, I cut them out at the biggest size that would fit on a 12x12 sheet. I then cut up some of the border strips, and attached pop dots on the back. Took the chipboard shapes, added pop dots to the back of them and stuck them on the boxes. I only did 2 sides of each box (the front and the back) because I didn't want to use up all my embellishments. I did the border strips on all 4 sides.

4. Paper bag favors

First I wrapped black border strips around the bags, with the seam in front. (These are one of my favorite things). Cut out a scalloped oval, and glue it over the strip, with pop dots. Glue the silhouette on the front. Take the chipboard shape and glue it to a scrap piece of paper and adhere pop dots to the back to pop it up.

Here are some close up pictures of the tree.

I love how the tree turned out.  I love how everything coordinates perfectly. I could have this tree up for quite a while. Have fun making your own.

Until next time,
Happy Crafting

  1. Brett you are definitely my kind of guy. These are all "spooktacular". I fell for this collection for the same reason-the minute I saw all the goodies that came with it I started seeing oodles of home decor!
