September Snapshots mini book by Julie Jacob

I have to tell you....August has been a bit of a blur.  The Fair...a trip to California with my daughter and her soccer team...then another trip taking my oldest to college in Iowa.  I'm not even going to think about that one, or the Kleenex box will be empty again.
Now school is starting tomorrow, and I'm wondering where the summer went?  Yikes.
Part of me is glad for the routine again.  Soccer games, fast pitch games.  I feel like I missed summer somehow...but yet I'm ready for fall.  Fall is my favorite.  Leaves changing, school starting, that crispy chill in the air, visiting the pumpkin patch...I love it!

I've decided that September is the month I dust off my camera.  I did take a slug of pictures on our trip...but other than that, my poor camera has been a bit neglected lately.  So I'm following this gal's photo-a-day prompts.  SUCH a cool idea.  And hopefully, just what I need to get snapping again.

THEN I decided that if I'm going to have a fun collection of photos, I need a fun mini book to put them in.
So I dooded up an 8x8 Maya Road chipboard mini book with some Vintage Finds...

First I painted the back, spine and edges of the book black.  Then I covered the cover with the newsprint side of the VF Flowers paper.  First I sanded the edges, because I'm a sander...and that's what sanders do.  We sand stuff.  But then I decided I wanted to messy paint the edges of the paper black as well.  Evidently you can be a sander AND a painter. :)

I Mod Podged a square of tissue sewing paper on the cover...and then added the clock design I cut out of VF Clocks paper (orange dot side).  Before I adhered it, I stamped it with a custom stamp I did with the TC Stampmaker...September Snapshots 2012.  Next I added bling, and the 30 cut from one of the small bingo cards (VF Bingo paper).

I cut out a clock from VF Clocks paper (inked the edges black) and adhered half to the right side of my book.  Add a little square of burlap, a quick hand-cut heart and the key.
Add phrase strips from VF Black Damask paper (word side) below the half clock.

Add washi tapes to the top of the book...then the strip of black bling.

Here's the inside cover:

I covered it with more of the word paper...added a bigger piece of burlap, a cut out flower & bingo card.  Then I blinged it up a little. :)
The inside of the back is VF Tiles paper.

I'm excited to fill it up with September photos! :)
