Something Wonderful Tag book by Cheri Piles

Hey everyone! I am in love with the new mid release collection "Something Wonderful"!! I love all of the bright fun colors and I thought it would be perfect for a class to teach this summer at my local stores. So, this is a huge sneak peak of my upcoming class!

It's all about tags!! I have a lot of people ask how I would use the tags from the collections and after some thought this is what I came up with. I wanted a mini book that is MORE than just a tag book, so I added a few pages, doilies, flaps and LOTS of layers!! It's such a neat and different book!

The tags that come in the tag package are incredible and are pretty even just by themselves.

Here, I created a pocket page with my photo and have a pull tag coming out of it.

Here is a really large "Library pocket" type of page with a tag on the front and a tag that comes out of the pocket.

I love this page, I used the tag as my title on the page! I love that scrapbooking has no rules!

Here is another Library pocket page with more tags, I think they are one of my fav's in the book.

I love the look of this one with the photo layered over the tag. The pictures from our trip to the tulip farm on Easter were perfect for this book.

This book is great on it's own but I wanted to showcase it in a different way so I took the glass out of a picture frame, backed it with one of the collections paper, added a cup hook to the top center and hung my book on it. It makes such an impression!! I hope you are inspired to think outside the box, mini books come in all shapes and sizes!

Enjoy your day and be sure to check out Teresa's blog - she is at the NYC Stationary Show this week debuting her new collection Studio Gold and announced yesterday her new partnership with CANON!! www.teresacollinsdesignsblog.com

Pre-made mini file folder album for Mothers Day by Cheri Piles using the new collection Urban Market

I have to say I'm pretty excited for Mothers Day this year! I wanted to have an album ready to go as soon as possible and this new collection will be perfect with my photos I'll be taking. YAY, I'm sooooo Excited!! We are going to spend the day at the ocean, flying kites, brunch, beach combing and maybe some whale watching. Seriously, excited here!!

I wanted to share today how you can create a STUNNING album by creating your embellishments from just this sheet of paper, yes!! This album I created was based around this sheet, it's called "COLLAGE" paper
Here I am showing you how I carefully cut all of them apart, just take your time and cut above and below each design working from the top of the page then work your way right to left using your paper trimmer.

I also used the "Glittered circles" paper and cut the sheet into rows then trimmed them to match my pages heights. For the base of my album I used the "File Folders" so it went together quickly with just a few additions. I added the circles to the edges where I would be putting the binding. This also gives the book a consistent sparkly look!

I love all of the sparkle glitter paper in this collection so I did add one extra page to my book - I cut the "Damask" glitter paper 11x7 and folded it in the center to create the page. Since this book is for ME I really wanted a little more glitter... You can never go wrong with too much glitter, just saying!!

I absolutely love the big foam squares in the Teresa Collins Xyron adhesive kit and here I am showing you what I believe is KEY when creating your own embellishments - use foam squares to give depth and draw the eyes to your pieces.
For a little something different I added a few photo overlays to my book as clear pages, I love LOVE love how this book is going to look with all of my beach pictures!! I created all of my photo mats a 1/4" bigger than what I will print them.

I think this file folder on the right is my most favorite page!! It is sooo pretty with the circles and the "LOVE THIS" that is raised with the foam dots and is overhanging the pages edge. I added a few sequins here and there and the new wood grain sequins were the right touch for this page!

I added another photo overlay where my picture will go, it will be perfect once the photo is in place and "Happiness" is EXACTLY how I feel about this book!!

Here is a close up of the overlay and I am drawing your eye to it with by adding the extra sequin.

I wish all you moms out there a very happy Mothers day coming up and hope your are inspired to create a little mini book to celebrate your day!! This new collection Urban Market was just the right papers and colors to celebrate our little mini trip!

Creating a inspirational note book Tutorial and FREE calendar download to fit the album kit by Cheri Piles

Hey There! I don't know about you but I am loving playing with all of the new BASICALLY ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS  This is the ALBUM KIT. I love how fun this is and all that you can do with it, it is seriously so cute! I have completely gone to town with it using the new MODELING PASTE and STENCILS. The cover has a decorative frame on it which I love all of the frills but I wanted to add some more depth so I layed the scallop stencil over the page and only applied ink to the outside of the frame. Then I used another stencil and added the days of the week using the paste, once dry I went over it with an ink pen. I added a few embellishments and Voila!! Pretty perfection!

I really wanted to create... and yes.. I know, this is soooo OLD SCHOOL of me but when I'm teaching I really need a visual date book to keep track of when I have to ship class samples, create class samples and traveling... And a computerized calendar just doesn't work when I'm planning many months ahead and need to see more than one calendar at a time so this was/is, for ME, the PERFECT SOLUTION... A VISUAL but simple and SUPER PRETTY date book... it's the perfect size at 5x7 too!!

I added a little of this and a little of that from the Daily stories collection, although this is an album kit and it COMES WITH everything you need to make it your own. But like I said, I kinda went a little crazy with filling it up. So on the left I added flip pages from the file folder package. Then on the right is a super cute decorative lined half page. I added an extra journal card using a paper clip, I figured I might need to take notes so I added many cards and tags throughout the book.

I love how put together things look when you match them up, for example I corner rounded this dot page then added another card to the upper right but I corner rounded JUST the upper right corner of the card - imagine the difference if I left it square - It would be FINE, there are no rules, but I do like it rounded.

OK, so on the left is a pocket photo sleeve - there are two pages included in the book! Each pocked is 3x4. I decided for this book I wanted photos that make me happy and that are cheerful, so I printed them off. Most are from Better homes and gardens - I love flowers!! I will give a link to my pinterest board below my signature. These sleeves would be a good place to also hold BUSINESS CARDS, yeah cool!!

I am loving the extra tags for notes later on! I created all of these blank calendar pages and have a download for you below and instructions on how I added them to my book.

I am loving how pretty my little book is!! I love the decorative shaped pages, so so cute!

Have you noticed all of the stamped flowers yet? I think it's my most favorite stamp in the Daily Stories stamp set. I also stamped all of the months stamps from the "Calendars stamp set" Teresa made with FISKARS.

This quote is awesome and I love the contrast that this page offers this book, again so supper cute!!!

To create the fun decorative clips to hold your tags in place in your book simply glue your gems back to back on the end of your paper clip using the clear hold adhesive from Teresa's adhesive kit from Xyron.

To add additional pages to your book as I have done with my calendar pages punch holes using the larger eyelet punch from We R Memory Keepers, then with fine tip scissors cut the centers of the circle then you can add your pages to your pre-made book and they don't fall out!
Ok, so if you are looking for blank calendar pages to fit this book you can save this image and print it out. You will need to trim the bottom off to make it 7". Then trim the right side off for 10" then fold in half and you will have enough room on each end for your holes to insert the pages into your book.

I love how pretty the book turned out and it's nice to see some of my favorite pictures regularly!! Here is a link to my pinterest board - "my favorite pretties"

I hope you found some inspiration to create one of your own, this sure was a fun album kit!!

Mothers Day tutorial with Cheri Piles using the Basically Essentials Instagram Banner Kit

Hey there! Mothers day is right around the corner and I wanted to share with you a quick and easy project that would make a great little gift. I don't know about you but my daughter has been taking "selfies" so I went to her instagram page and printed one of her selfy pictures from 2012. This would work for any age!!
I wanted to create something fun and unique so I used the new Basically Essentials instagram banner kit. This banner kit is so fun and as you know with scrapbooking there are NO RULES!! So I switched it up and created a mini album with 6 of the pages, it comes with 8 pages, beautiful papers and ribbon. I corner rounded each of my 6 pages.

I wanted my book to have a cover so I cut a 4"x12" strip from the Daily Stories "ombre circles" paper. Gently fold it in half - and slip it into your new Teresa Collins Xyron 2 hole punch and punch your holes. Corner round all of your corners.

Then using a score board score 1/2" between each of the holes to create the spine of your book. Decorate your cover using embellishments from the Daily Stories collection. I used the journal card from the "currently"' paper and corner rounded the right sides. Then I added the thin monthly word strips from the side b of "ombre circles". I layered washi tape above the word strips. I added the layered butterfly sticker to top right of washi tape in upper frame of card. For some added fun I stamped in black ink the "this is me" in the bottom of the frame. For some "shine" I added a few sequins. Simple and quick! :)

Now, this is important to remember, when you punch your instragram pages from the kit do not slide them all of the way in so your holes on your pages will line up with the holes on your cover. Then using washi tape of choice from the Daily Stories collection, wrap a strip down the center of the openings.

I printed all of my daughters photos 3"x3" then matted them onto white cardstock that I cut 3 1/2" x 3 1/2".  I rounded all of the corners of the photos and the white cardstock. Then adhere over your open space and add a second photo to the back. You will have a 1/4" of OPEN SPACE around your photo, This is what makes this so neat to look at!!

The back of the Ombre circles papers and months. So cut them into strips to create page "tabs", to make the wide tab cut just above the months of one line, skip a row (the row that you will use for your tabs) then just below the next row. Then cut between every other month so you have January & February together and so on. Then fold, corner round (only if you want, it's kinda tricky to corner round them because they are small...treat yourself to a piece of chocolate at this point) then adhere them to your pages.

I started putting the tabs on the ends and working my way in so they were all evenly spaced.

Once you are done with your tabs cut 12 strips 4" x 1" from a sheet of paper from the collection. I used the "floral" paper. I corner rounded one side to match the edges then adhered them to the wide space. Add your rings and tie your ribbon to the top ring and trim excess away and you are done!

This was such an easy project using just the banner kit and two sheets of paper but you could use just the one sheet of "ombre circles" paper to complete it! I made it while watching a movie, super quick and easy!

I hope you are inspired to re-create on of your own!

Cheri Piles with the new Basically Essential Flip Book and Video

Hey There! Have you had a chance to check out the new FLIP BOOKS? They are seriously so much FUN!! If you have not seen what the flip books are be sure to watch the video because pictures will not explain how it really works. It's AMAZING!! On the cover I used the scallop paper, circles paper, sticker sheet, decorative heart shaped tape and the new gems. The large circle and butterfly is from the brads.

These books come blank and ready to decorate.

To create my book I used the Daily Stories collection. My main papers are from the 6x6 paper pad. You could just add photo's and nothing more and they are beautiful with and without embellishments.

On the inside cover, I used more tape - the butterfly roll, circle paper, brads, sticker and gem.

This was a fun page, I used one of the cards "this is me" from the 12x12 "remember paper. Then from the 6x6 paper pad I cut out the tags from that same sheet in the pad. I kept the tags connected together and just added mini enamel dots to the center of the tag holes. I added the banner from the ephemera pack and another circle from the circle paper. On the right of my photo I added the sticker quote. Notice how once the first page has now been flipped the pull page has a row of the circles paper exposed. I loved the size of them from the 6x6 paper pad and thought it was a nice look to the book as the pages flip more of the rows of circles are exposed.

On the left I added layers on the left side of the page, you don't want to "bulk" up the sides that will slide into the book otherwise they may not flip as easily.

Here I added another journal card and decorative cirlce with a Large gem in the center. On the right you can now see three columns of circles exposed.

And last but not least I added a little page for journaling and another card on the right. Again, these are so fast and easy to create!! I made this book in just over an hour!! These flip books come in two sizes, this is the larger one. I am stocking up on these, they are so quick and easy to make - they are perfect for gift giving don't you agree?

Teresa Collins - Save the Date collection used as baby book by Cheri Piles

I wish that you could feel this paper!! This paper feels like wall paper!! Yes, Teresa was inspired by the feel of wallpaper on one of her trips and she incorporated it into this paper line. It is amazing!! When I received my box with all of the collections and saw this collection "Save the Date" I was stunned by the beauty of it!!

I also knew with a first look - this is not just a wedding collection. It's "core" is all about love and you can see in this post how I used it for a baby book!

The mini cover is just a tag!! It was so simply stated and it is perfectly paired with the mini file folders used in this book. When creating mini books often I only corner round the outside edges, not the inside where it will be binded. I also cut into strips the "guestbook" paper side b which has all of the little pink hearts on it and put on each page where it would be binded. I love how perfect it was for this book!!!

I added this page to my book to give the book more stability, I put white cardstock through my TCebosser, emossed the paper and then layered it onto chipboard. Then added all of my embellishments. I love doing this, If you have a book and it doesn't have enough pages or if your book is kind've wobbly you can easily add beautiful pages into it like I have done here.

I really wanted to show you this little flip book that comes in the package of "file folders & tags" The first flip page said JUST MARRIED, so I covered it up with the "ephemera tag" that has the calendar on it. This again would be perfect just to document your event or special occasion.

On the left you can now see the back side of the page I added to my book using the TC Ebosser. The right page is one of the file folders which are really most of my pages in this book. I left the inside blank for journaling by adding some journaling cards (not shown). The front of the file folder is BEAUTIFUL with the "from this moment on" I love how it is designed. I added another tag then the dark pink piece actually folds out, I added the brad on the flap that opens up.

This is the back of the file folder, can you tell I am LOVING the new EPHEMERA TAGS?!?

You can see I added a photo page - I just put two photos together back to back and inserted them into the book as a page! Sometimes it's really ok to be simplistic - what gives it an interesting look is how I layered it when I inserted it into the book. I layered it over the photo on the right page and when it turns you can see the "beautiful day" on the previous day. I always think it's important to look at how pages or embellishments will lay both ways when creating.

This is the inside of the larges mini file folder. I love how this looks - I matted all of my photos on white cardstock and I did the same on this journal card. Oh and yes another tag on that left page!!  OK.. SO, do you see the NEW PHOTO OVERLAYS? I have one on the photo on the right and in the lower left it says "happily ever after" in the circle. These are seriously so so fun!!!

Oh, did I mention the new GEMS are to die for?? I love the new crystal gems!!! Pretty pretty pretty!!!
Here is my last page - which is my back cover. Again, I needed a chipboard cover to give my book more stability so I did the same as before and used my TC Ebosser to create the beautiful page!!

I hope you are inspired to use this collection for more than just wedding, you will love it!!!
