Happy @ 9 layout by Stacey Michaud using the new Urban Market collection

I have a son so I am always looking for a good masculine collection!  I found perfection with the Urban Market collection. There are wonderful patterns and muted colors that are perfect for all sorts of themes!  I adore the navy and gray, making that a big pop on my newest page.

I decided to make the tags really stand out on this page.  I grouped three tag together, being sure to vary the color and patterns.  I like how it gives my photos and words a place to land.  I placed the biggest photo on the dark tag, knowing I wanted the eye to start there.

I did some simple layering by using two elements from the Ephemera package.  I also added some texture and dimension with the Recorded Wood Veneer piece.  I feel that every page should have some hard element like metal or wood.

I cut the Happy word from a sheet of paper with journaling cards.  There is so much you can create with sheets of paper!  The alphabet and numbers block is also from a sheet of paper.  Using small elements of paper allows you to stretch your supplies, add variety and have pop while still keeping the page clean.

That Look by Stacey Michaud

Have you ever mixed Teresa's collections?  I mixed some products from two lines on this most recent layout.  I really appreciate how Teresa incorporates versatile designs like grid paper or ledger paper.  There are so many cool white papers that can be used as bases.  I combined some Save the Date with Hello My Name Is.

The Kraft Polaroid squares are from the Hello, My Name is collection.  I combined the Kraft with the pinks, golds and blues in the Save the Date line.  How fun to pick exactly what you need from a variety of lines!

I wanted the photo to pop so I used lots of light colored elements and keep my patterns to a minimum.  I grounded the photo with the gold polka dot and then pushed all elements to the right on the page.

I used one of the Polaroid squares as my journaling space, but not before dressing it up a bit.  I placed half of a wooden circle and button to the right.  Then I used the Snapshots diecut.

I didn't want to write on the square closest to my daughter's face so I simply added the Beautiful and music note die-cuts.  It is enough detail to jazz it up.  I placed small strips of the blue stripe and black diagonal along the top and finished it with the heart sticker.

I finished off the page by placing the wood veneer banner along the bottom, using it as a place to put my title.  Finally, I scattered handcut polka dots, sequins and enamel dots along a similar vertical line.

Sometimes the little details can make a big difference!

Story Seekers by Stacey Michaud

I love to share our daily stories via scrapbook pages.  Today, I am sharing an everyday life page that features the Daily Stories collection.  It is about my son's love for reading.  That boy always has a book, or three, with him.

I started with an Instagram photo and built a page from there.

To make this page, I started with the ledger paper base.  I build my layouts from the photo out after I decide on a base.  I grabbed the Notes card and the Currently card, layering them with the picture.  I like how it gave the photo a home.  I then added the tan circles paper to add some subtle color.  Whenever I use a strong horizontal piece of paper, I like to frame it with smaller strips along the bottom and top of the rectangle.  I added the chipboard Jan-June border right near my son's face so it draw you in.

Then I started adding small touches.  I placed down the chipboard arrow and then built an arrow of my own with the wood veneer piece and the two enamel dots.  I hand cut the Picture This saying and place pop dots underneath.

I used the large Story chipboard letters to build my title.  The wood veneer star gives the title a starting point.  I used my Xyron Clear Hold Adhesive to place my star down.  I just got this TC and Xyron product and I am in love!  I added a small banner from the brad package along the top right of the tan rectangle and journaled right on top.

Creating clean and simple layouts is super fun and easy when using Teresa's products!

1st Day Snapshots by Stacey Michaud

Today I am sharing a layout with you that I created based on a sketch by Allison Davis for Scrapbook Generations.  A great sketch led to a layout that uses a grid effect layered with many pretty embellishments.

I used several journaling cards and tags to construct my grid.  It was relatively easy as the cards are all the same size.  I did add in some 6X6 paper that I cut down to match the size of the cards.  I overlapped a tag in the top middle row to add some height and
draw the eye to that spot.

Once the base of the grid was constructed, I started to add those little details.  I placed my photo on a diagonal to combat all the straight edges.  I layered the wood veneer speech bubble because it has so much dimension.  To go along with an element from the sketch, I added the banner cluster along the left of the grid.  I used a die cut, stickers and a brad.  I love to layer small elements like the sequins.

I took advantage of the lined paper on the tag and placed my journaling there.  I also used two pieces of chipboard.  I like to add dimension and the most interest right near my photo to make a focal point.

This page reminds me of a Project Life spread of sorts!  You can get a feel for how the cards can be embellished to make them unique.

Celebrate Us by Stacey Michaud

The  new Save the Date collection is drop dead gorgeous.  If I were getting married soon or hadn't scrapped all of my wedding pictures or even knew of anyone getting married, I would use it!

I don't...but I decided to not let that stop me.  Instead, I realized that so many of the themes can fit a variety of scrapbooking topics.  There are countless ways to use this line.  I am celebrating the relationship between Ella and her grandfather on this page.

I decided to use the large tag as a major focal point.  The new collections have packages of tags and they are fantastic.  I layered the tag by using a black background paper and then put the us chipboard letters on top.  I used a piece of hemp and enamel sticker to top it off.  That design element allowed me to make a strong horizontal line going across the page.  I complimented it with more chipboard, stickers, and wood shapes.

The little details can easily be filled in using Teresa's collected.  For example, that cute little gem perfectly finishes off the Beautiful chipboard piece.   When using a collection that is based on a theme, look carefully.  There are so many words or motifs that can work across pages.

Save the Date worked out perfectly!

You are My Happy by Stacey Michaud

Raise your hand if you are loving the new releases from Teresa Collins?  I have my hand way up high.  Each collection has embellishments and papers that I absolutely adore.  One of my favorite lines is the Daily Stories collection.  I get all swoony when Teresa makes a collections with lots of color.  This one is fantastic.

I made a layout using a simple and clean design.  The detail is in the details!

All of my major elements went into the center of the page.  I used a 4X6 photo that I overlapped with the new Essentials frame and the You Are My Happy card.  I then layered on a new overlay.  These things are so great!  I cut this one so just the words were showing.

I love the new embellishments that I used in this cluster.  I went with the bold You are My Happy because there is not a lot of color in my photo.  I tied the two together using the curvy flower chipboard.  In order to create more curves, I used the Remember This die-cut with the rhinestone.

I finished off the top of the page with a chipboard butterfly and saying along with the new wood pieces!  I am  in love!  These little wood pieces point right to my photo.  Using arrows on a page is a good idea, especially when you point them to a photo, title or main element.

I am loving the new collections!  I am sure you are too!

Merry Christmas by Stacey Michaud

Merry Christmas!  On behalf of the design team, we want to wish you a blessed day full of love.

In honor of the holiday, I am sharing a gift to be shared with others.  A keepsake ornament in a vintage, old-fashioned style and an envelope full of fun!

The ornament was created using a wooden spool bought at a craft store.  I used my favorite Santa's List vintage paper and a Santa die-cut, making it shiny with Mod Podge.  The ribbon on top is complete with a sequin and Believe sentiment.

I simply used burlap twine as a hanger.  I threaded the twine through the center of the ornament and tied a knot on top.  I then created a loop and tied it again, making a bow.

Who doesn't love confetti during a celebration....mine was made using different colored sequins.

We hope you are celebrating the magic of the season and are looking forward to the new year!

With love,

War & Peace by Stacey Michaud

This past weekend, we were hit with snow.  In the spirit of all things winter, I am sharing a layout about good, ole snowball fights!  I will show you how to use small touches to make a layout pop!

Here is my page.  I love how Teresa's Santa's List line uses Kraft as an unexpected color.  It reminds me of simple brown paper wrapping and burlap, both beautiful textures in the winter.  While the line is mainly Christmas-based, it has strong winter themed pages and embellishments.

I used the snowflake paper across the middle because it has the red, glittery ones as well as the larger flakes.  To make my photos stand out, I placed them on top of red elements, the journaling card and an open envelope in candy cane stripes.

I incorporated other snowflakes around page.  I purposely placed them to the right of my photo cluster to lead the eye to the title.  It is important to link the elements of your pages together.

I used the large chipboard snowflake, placing a die-cut circle and enamel dot in the center.  I hand cut one of the glittery snowflakes and put a cream enamel dot in the middle.  To add more elements and movement, I stamped a couple of more. Scrapbook design is like home décor, use groupings of three in all different sizes!

I didn't know where to place my journaling as I didn't want to crowd the title and snowflakes.  So I place my words on a die-cut ticket and glued it along the top of the page.  I grounded it with a Love die-cut circle and black border.  Notice the number of snowflake themed items I incorporated around the page!

Have fun adding small details to your next page!

25 Days by Stacey Michaud

Hello everyone!  Today I am sharing a layout that documents an annual family tradition, the arrival of our elf!  The little fellow's name is Dash and he is a member of our household for 25 days each year.

I remembered to document some of his best moments last year so I could scrap them using the Santa's List collection!

This base paper comes with the newsprint and scalloped edge.  I decided to work with the already fabulous design by building along the edges!  I placed my photos along the bottom edge, staggering my three pictures.

When I design, I look for a way to balance my photos.  In this case, I went to the opposite side.  I used a journaling card along the left side and layered on top of it.  I used the die-cut banner and some chipboard.  To give it the last touch, I used some burlap twine in a chipboard button.

I wanted some more green on the page, so I glued down a line of the sequins.  I love, love, love sequins!

For the rest of the page, I chose elements that worked with my ideas.  I went with the large, numerical title, using a die-cut ticket and black alphabet to mix it all up.  I also created a cluster along the bottom.  It started with the naughty or nice chipboard banner.  I figured it was perfect since the elf's job is to report back to Santa!

I layered a different shape, using the circular Christmas die-cut and the chipboard star.  Try mixing up three different shapes and sizes in a cluster!

Be sure to record all of your annual traditions this year!  Grab several photos and create a balanced, detailed layout!

Create by Stacey Michaud

Being creative is a blessing.  It is the ability to express your feelings via art.  There is something so simple, yet wonderful about being able to make something that is uniquely yours.  My daughter has the gift of creativity.  Her imagination is wild and free.  I love that part of her personality and know the pursuit of creativity will keep her happy for a long time.

That is where the You Are My Happy collection comes in to help!  I wanted to record her joy with a layout.  The collection has such a great variety of embellishment and goodies.  It allows for creativity in itself.

When I started designing this page, I knew I wanted the feel of a grid.  You can never go wrong with a grid design.  Typical grid designs are made up of rows and columns.  I shook mine up a bit by going outside the lines.  I kept the paper to a minimum to really show off the embellishments.  It is amazing what you can make with only a few products!

I grouped together the large chipboard block, adding the heart and button to the right, giving it more dimension.  I combined round brads and enamel dots around the grid to make it softer.  I also added the sequins to the top of the two taupe hearts on the tickets.  Feel free to embellish your embellishments!  It makes them special!

I also cut the scalloped edges from the Hearts paper and layered a few along the top of my page.  I often like to use portions of paper to add a different twist to a page.

Grab your favorite parts of this collection and start building a page today!  Begin with a grid and let your creativity take you from there!  Just like my I tell my daughter, it will make you happy!

Happy to Love You by Stacey Michaud

Hi everyone!  I hope today finds you happy in the small moments!  I have a new page to share with you that incorporates graphic patterns and soft feminine details.  Much like the subjects in the photos.

My niece and daughter both have big personalities.  They give each other a run for their money.  I love the joy that is captured in these photos.  I wanted to layout to have a sense of playfulness, yet contain girlie details.  I used the new You are My Happy collection.

I decided to create a cluster of photos and elements with a background full of white space.  I wanted the pictures to pop so I used the pink paper in the background.  Then I mixed patterns.  I am talking chevron with zig zags with hearts and florals.  Can you imagine each pattern on a pillow?  Fantastic!

To balance out the graphic, straight-lined patterns, I added the pretty floral to the left of the photo.  That is from the new emphera packet!  I just love this package of goodies!  I also added the scalloped edge, gold foil along the top.

To convey the theme of happiness and freedom, I incorporated the sequins around the page.  I purposefully placed them along the diagonal line to connect all the major elements of the page.

When searching for embellishments to finish a page, be sure to pick typography that supports your theme.  I spelled out a message with the XOXO & I love you!

On your next page, try mixing graphic with soft and see what the results are!  I am sure they will make you happy!

He Said that She by Stacey Michaud

When the You Are My Happy collection arrived at my door, I was blown away by the vibrant color!  There is so much happy in this line...the patterns, chipboard, and colors!  I love a pretty floral with a bold chevron.  It made me happy!

I decided to go bold with this page!  Bold is everywhere right now from fashion to throw pillows.  I say embrace color and scrap!

I usually start with a quiet and calm base as I consider myself more of a simple scrapper.  However, I was drawn to the graphic design of this paper.  I love how the Vs naturally point to the photo!  I decided to layer and give my photo a place to rest.

I placed the photo, which is sized at 3 X 5", onto the Captured journaling card.  The photo was slightly larger going vertically so I added the black to the top.  It grounds the photo and makes it pop.

I used the floral file folder to anchor my photo.  For this page, I cut the folder in half.  I plan to use the other side on another page.  The heart paper is from the 6X6 paper pad.

To balance out the bold pattern and the floral, I added the tags and embellishments to the left.

I used one of the new Flag Toppers minus the wooden stick for the heart banner and also grouped a chipboard banner and brad.  There are so many wonderful patterns in this line, like that black and white diagonal.  It can be found in the 6X6 Paper Pad.  Did you know that there are extra patterns and designs within that pad than those in the 12X12 papers?  It allows for great variety!

Grab the You Are My Happy line and go for it!  Be bold!

Documenting all Aspects by Stacey Michaud

Typically when I share a page, I am all about giving a tip or a technique that involves the product or an embellishment.  Today, I would like to share the other side of scrapbooking...the importance of telling the story.

I don't just mean the good stuff or the sappy memories.  That should be scrapped.  But sometimes, raw emotions or real feelings we all experience need to also be documented.

I love a good ledger paper as it always gives me room to tell a story!  I wanted to focus on the numerals on the left hand side of the page by creating a list.  For this page, I decided to share how I am sometimes hard on my son.  He is the oldest so I expect a lot.  He is a really great kid and I want him to know that I know that about him.  I hope one day he will look back and realize that I struggled with this feeling.

I used the arrows to point the journaling.

I also used the artisan edge to ground the photo and point to the journaling.  I finished off the cluster with a brad.

I love this photo of us and the love that is captured.  I am sure that he will see my pride and his joy.  He will read the words written in my handwriting and he will know that I adore him.

That should be documented.
