Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Laura McCollough

We are very excited for you to get to know design team member Laura. We asked her a few questions and here's what she had to say:
Laura McCollough
  • What is your scrapbooking style? My style is very eclectic and I like to mix it up and try new techniques all the time.
  • How did you start scrapbooking? My love of "scrapbooking" started back when I was a little girl and made my own little albums that I still have (my daughters laugh at them though :)
  • What influences your designs? Nature is a big influence but also current fashions and colors.  I also LOVE Interior Design and watching HGTV and other home shows gives me great ideas.
  • How long do you spend working on a layout? I like to start a project and then leave it on my table and come back to it.  It gives me a fresh perspective and I can tell if I like the feel of it right away.
  • What does your work area look like while you are working on a project? Clean and organized? Messy and all over the place?  I'd LOVE to say clean and organized but sadly it's just the opposite. :)-
  • What is your favorite color combination? I'm not one that can tell you my FAVORITE color, so this is hard...  Right now I'm liking light yellow, light turquoise and white together.
  • Do you have any other hobbies? I love to cook, used to sing a lot and play tennis but I don't have time to do much these days.  We took a year off and traveled the World with our kids some years ago and that gave us the "travel bug" so I would say traveling is a HUGE part of my life... can that be considered a hobby?  Let's say YES!  lol...
We love how Laura created this great team Pennant!
This penant is such a quick and FUN way to show your support at a game! I started with a Clear Scrap sacrylic pennant and traced the star paper with this shape and then cut it out and attached BEHIND the acrylic with Zip Dry or you could use small glue dots.

Then I took one of the Sports sayings “team” and cut it out and attached to the middle of the pennant with some pop dots. I also took some alpha stickers from American Crafts (GO) and attached on the acrylic above.

Next I took the Tim Holtz Sizzix die and the blue paper from the sports line to create the flower.
Follow the directions to create flower and then attach to pennant. I used a circle punch to punch out the “all star” circle and attached to the top of the flower.

I added some other embellishments like “play hard”, the brad and the white trim from this line. Lastly, I took an 18” wooden dowel I bought at my local craft store and attached to the back side of the pennant with glue dots. Then I punched the two holes already in the acrylic pennant, threaded some trim through the holes and tied knots around the wooden dowel to give it even more stability.

The acrylic pennants come in a package of 7 so this would be a GREAT way to make all of them and
pass them out to show your support at a game!

_____________________________________________________________________

We also love Laura's Sprit Banner!

This banner was made using Clear Scraps Pennant album. I took 4 of the 7 pages and
turned it into this banner by tracing the Sports Edition II papers I wanted for each
pennant, cutting them out and attaching them to the BACKSIDE of each pennant with
Zip Dry or small glue dots.

Then I had FUN using all the die cuts and embellishments from the Sports Edition II line
to add to each pennant. I then used the Circut machine to cut out the words TEAM and
Spirit as well as the brackets on each side of “spirit”. I attached these words with pop
dots to the pennants and finished off the banner with some twill ribbon to string it all
together and hang it up!

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Maridette Cachola

We are very excited for you to get to know Maridette Cachola. We asked her some questions so you could get better. This is what she had to say:

Maridette Cachola
What's my Scrapbooking style?
Not quite sure what you call it.  For one thing it is definitely girly.  I love damask, crowns, bling, chandelier, velvety textures, glitter well...you get the idea.  Mini books are my first love- the chunkier the better.  When I create mini books I love creating them with interactive pages with tags, journaling cards and pockets.  I also mix it up with the versatility of digital scrapbooking...HYBRID scrapbooking.  Once I learned the digi aspect of my craft it opened up a whole new world.  It created an endless possibility in my work.

How did you start scrapbooking?
I started in high school.  I created this 3 ring 8 1/2 x 11 album that's filled with dance pictures, friends, hanging out, memorabilia, concert tickets, confetti and words that are cut out from magazines.  I became a "serious" scrapbooker once my daughter was born.  I wanted to preserve our familys' memories so she may look back and know why she is who she is.

What influences your designs?
Scrapbooking products along with my photos influence how I design my projects.  I love the inspiration from  other crafters whether it be in magazines or scrapbooking websites.  Photography, home designs magazines, clothing and furniture stores also have a big part of my creative process.

How long does it take to do a layout?
It takes about 2-3 hours to do a layout and longer for mini book.

What does your work area look like when you are working on a project?
My craft table does get messy but not too messy!

What is your favorite color combination?
Pink and black, pink, grey and white, yellow, orange and blues.

Do you have any other hobbies?

My other passion is Photography.  Love, love it!  I love shopping whether it be for clothes, home decor and of course scrapbooking products.  I also love decorating my home.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Colette Nederhoff

We are so excited for you to get to know team member Colette Nederhoff!! We asked Colette a few questions and here is what she had to say:
Colette Nederhoff

What is your scrapbooking style?   I'd say it is "detail oriented".  I do fill my pages with alot of details and do not like the "ordinary -- what you would expect" on a page. I try to think out of the box.
How did you start scrapbooking?    I started when I was a consultant for Close to my Heart and the company brought in scrapping.
What influences your designs?   I look at lots of magazines and websites and try to "LIFT" the idea - but make it my own.   I wish I could say I was an "original thinker".
How long do you spend working on a layout?   I think I am pretty slow at scrapping so it can vary from 30 minutes to and hour.
What does your work area look like when you are working on a project?  I am a MESS!
What is your favorite color combination?  I love Black and White- which is why alot of Teresa's designs are so good at my house. I also love Turquoise alot
Do you have any other hobbies?  I have tooo many to name.  I have been a crafting teacher at a craft store in my past, and a tole painter, so you name it, I have probably tried it.  I make Jewelry, I sew and I am learning a lot about photography every day.  I think "ARTSY" should have been  my middle name.

“123 SHOOT”  layout
Designed by:  Colette Nederhoff

Supplies:
3- 4X6 photos   all vertical
1-  Teresa Collins Designs “Blue Numbers” papers
1-  Teresa Collins Designs “Sheilds” papers
1-  Teresa Collins Designs “Die Cuts” paper
1-  Teresa Collins Designs “Tags” paper
1-  Teresa Collins Designs “Circle Tags” paper
Blingage:  Shelley’s stars
Black chipboard letters and numbers  - Cosmo Cricket blackboard
Black Coredinations Cardstock
White TAG -- Office Max
Blue Safety Pin-- Dritz
Black Chalk INK
Adhesives: Glue runner and foam squares

Instructions:

Preparing your Page components:

1. Cut the following pieces from your papers:
    *  6”X 12” piece of Blue numbers paper
    *  7” X 4 ¼ inch Black Coredinations cardstock
    *  3 ¼ “ X 3 ¾:” Blue numbers paper
    *  4”X 6 ¾” Sheilds paper - use ledger side
    *  3 ¼ “ X 6” Black Coredinations cardstock
    *  Black pocket from “Die Cuts” paper
    *  2 white Circle tags from “Circle Tags” paper --the calendar and GAME
    *  2 black cardstock circles slightly larger than the calendar and GAME circles to “mat” them
    *  Play Hard Tag from “Tags” paper
    *  numbers strip from “Die Cuts” paper

2.  Distress the edges of the white papers with the black ink.
3.  Trim your photos:   The 2 outer ones measure 3.5” X 5.5” and the center one measures 3” X
5.5”.  Mat the center skinnier one on Black cardstock.   Adhere the white ledger paper to the
larger black mat and add a strip of numbers to the top portion.  Place the center photo right
below that  leaving a small white border under the photo.  Set this component aside after
      assembly.
4.   Glue the 6” X 12” inch strip  horizontally across the bottom part of the 12X12 Blue numbers
paper.  I left 2 rows of the numbers showing. Then adhere your 2 outer photos leaving a small
blue border.  Attatch the center photo component up higher in the center creating a  stag-
gered effect.  The center photo is  1 ¾” from the bottom of the blue strip, leaving that portion
of the blue open for the letters.  To pop this component, Use foam squares.
5.    The left edge of the Play hard tag gets cut off to make the card measure 3” X 3.5”.  Use the
Blue background smaller piece you cut earlier to mat the Play hard.  Glue in place about ¾ “
     above the left hand photo.
6.  Create a pocket by folding the Black Practice pocket from the “Die Cuts” paper.  Glue a little
strip of numbers about 1 ¼” down from top.  Use a pin to hang the “Shelley’s star” and also
tie the string from our white tag to the pin.  Pin the whole thing on to the pocket.  Your
journaling can be written on the white tag and stuck inside.  The tied string will keep it from
     getting LOST!
7.  Lastly, Adhere your chipboard numbers and letters in place.  Use Foam squares to add the
“O’s”  and journal the date on the calendar.

“UPside Down” layout
By: Colette Nederhoff
Featuring:  Teresa Collins Designs Sports Edition II

Supplies:
2- 4X6 photos
All Papers are Teresa Collins Designs Sports Edition II

1- Practice paper
1- Shields paper
1- Blue numbers paper
1- Die Cuts paper
1-Circle Tags paper

Blingage:  Jason’s Metal Stars

Sports Edition II Decorative Brads
Red Baker’s twine
Adtech glue runner and Thermoweb foam squares
Fiskars circle cutter

Instructions:
Preparing your Papers:

1.  1- 6 ¾ “ X 12” strip of the Back of the Sheilds paper
    1- 6” circle  Blue numbers
    2- 3 ½ “ circles Blue numbers
    1- 2” circle Blue numbers
1-strip of red stars from Sports Edition II Die cuts
1- Do what you Do best  shape from Circle Tags paper
1- Skill Sheild from Sheilds paper

Assembly:

1.  Start by gluing a strip of red stars on the ledger paper about 1 inch from bottom.
Then cut the 6 inch circle and the 3 ½ inch circle in half.  Take 1 of each size halves and                   make a rainbow--. (best way to describe this!)
Glue down the strip of Ledger paper horizontally to the 12X 12 Practice background with the
Rainbow Situated between the words Practice>  Glue all of it down along that top edge, but
leave the bottom edge of the ledger unglued, so you can tuck another half circle at bottom.
You will also glue a half of a 2” circle with that on the bottom right .    I added a Brad           into the           bottom of the large circle .  These circles and the horizontal ledger paper should
all be glued and secured down before moving on.

2. Crop 1 of the photos to 4 ¼” X 4” and place to the far left side around ½ “  down from
top of ledger paper.  Before gluing down, cut one of the 3 ½ inch circles in half
and place under the bottom of photo.    Place a brad in the bottom before completely
    securing both photo and circle.
4.  Place a brad in the bottom of another ½ circle of the 3 ½ “ size.  I glued this one to the left
side of the 4” X 6” photo and this photo goes all the way to the right edge of the layout.
The blue side of the 2 inch circle half goes up in the top right side of the photo and ledger
    sheet..
5.  To finish, take a 8 inch piece of red baker’s twine and hang it over the brad in the center of the
Page.  Tie on a Jason’s Metal star and tie a bow at the top of the star to attatch.
6.  Lastly, I used foam squares to POP the 2  cutouts.  Place one on the top left side and one in
    the bottom right.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Yvonne Blair

Yvonne Blair
We are so excited for you to get to know team member Yvonne Blair! We asked Yvonne a few questions so you can get to know her and this is what she had to say:

What is your scrapbooking style?
I would say I lean toward shabby chic.  I love to rough things up a little bit by distressing but leaving a sophisticated feel at the same time.  I love using the unexpected such as doilies, book pages and shipping tags.  It can also depend on what product I am using. Different products inspire me different ways.
How did you start scrapbooking?
I have always had a love of working with paper, from the time I was very young I would decorate things with wrapping paper and cut up greeting cards, make my dolls houses out of shoe boxes and so on.  I "officially" started scrapbooking in 1997.  My daughter was about 2 1/2 and I wanted to put all those memories and pictures someplace that we could enjoy them.  Once I started "playing" with paper again I was hooked.  I absolutely love looking through those albums and reminiscing with my daughter.
What influences your designs?
Everything around me...I can find inspiration anywhere.

How long do you spend working on a layout?
I spend about 1-2 hours on a layout. If it isn't working for me, I will set it aside and move on to another project.  I have been know to have quite a few different projects going on at the same time!

What does your work area look like while you are working on a project?
Clean and organized? Messy and all over the place? It starts out clean and quickly becomes very messy!!! I usually start with a bunch of product spread out in front of me and pull from that inspiration to create my projects.  When I get done with whatever project I am working on it usually looks like a tornado passed through my studio, lol.

What is your favorite color combination?
Pink and Black of course!  But I really love all color!

Do you have any other hobbies?
I love photography, home decor, and shopping.  Is Facebook considered a hobbie?  LOL.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Amanda Jones

We are so excited for you to get to know team member Amanda! We asked Amanda a few questions so you can get to know her and this is what she had to say:

  * What is your scrapbooking style?
o My style is very flexible. I love getting messy with inks
and paints and mixing things up, but am equally comfortable
creating more graphic pages with clean, straight lines. The
product I'm working with and my mood dictates my style!
  * How did you start scrapbooking?
o I have always been a 'journaler' and still have boxes full
of memorabilia, sticker filled notebooks and diaries from my
childhood years. I discovered scrapbooking as a means to
combine my passion for paper products, photos and writing
when a friend of mine created a scrapbook to remember her
baby son who passed away. I was inspired to preserve my own
memories and those of my family
  * What influences your designs?
o My photos are always the starting point for my projects. I
work with the photos, the subject and the product to create
something that feels 'right' to me. It comes from the heart
and the mood I'm in at the time comes out in my designs. I
love getting inspired by the work of others, but find it
hard to scraplift designs. Even working with sketches I tend
to go my own way. I guess I'm a bit of a design rebel ;)
  * How long do you spend working on a layout?
o Usually one or two hours, but sometimes things come together
much quicker and I can turn a page out in a half hour. On
the flip side, I have been known to faff with the finishing
touches on a layout for the best part of a day.
  * What does your work area look like while you are working on a
project? Clean and organized? Messy and all over the place?

o Generally messy. I start off extremely organised but once
inspiration strikes all sense of order goes out the window.
I always TRY and clear my space after creating something.
But we all know how that goes, right?
  * What is your favorite color combination?
o I love yellow, and I also love neutral whites and creams.
However, I always seem to gravitate towards blues and greens
in my layouts, with occasional pops of red, orange or
yellow. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that
I'm almost always scrapping pictures of my son!
  * Do you have any other hobbies?
o Hmm. I aspire to having other hobbies but most of my free
time is spent creating! That's my passion. I love listening
to music when I scrapbook and do enjoy reading murder
mysteries when I get the chance!

Amanda created these great layouts using the new SPORTS EDITION II line.

To recreate this great layout here are Amanda's instructions:
