Here is a Baseball layout that Suzanne has created.
I love the use of the layered elements, the way she used the brads, the way she added texture to some of the elements.  This shows a great way to make the paper work for you and Suzanne's attention to detail is amazing.

_____________________________________________________________

Football is one of my favorite sports, and seeing how Suzanne created this great layout was inspiring. I love the way she has created the elements at the bottom of her picture to make your eye flow across the page and to fill the space of her layout. I also love the cluster of the elements to give the layout more dimension and interest.

I love the felt stars.  Again...love the layered look and the added texture she added to the die-cut.

All these elements are on one die-cut sheet.  The layered look made it look like one piece that was already assembled ready to use. I love the way you can mix and match the die-cut pieces, add a little bling and string and you have your own custom embellishment.

We hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful creations from Suzanne.  To learn more about Suzanne check out her blog at http://www.scrappinthedetails.typepad.com/.  She is an amazing and talented artist, she will be able to inspire you to live a creative life.

Thank you Suzanne again for sharing your layouts using the Sports Edition II collection.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Sesil Cratin

We are so excited for you to get to know Sesil. She is the Design Team Leader, she handles all of the girls' questions and CHEERS them all on! She is AMAZING and so are her designs.

We asked our Design Team members a couple of questions. This is what Sesil had to say.
Sesil Cratin

What is your scrapbook style?
My style is a mix of classic with a little collage element. I really like to try different things and styles but I tend to stick with my classic graphical style.

How did you start scrapbooking?
I attended a Creative Memories party at my friend’s house soon after I got married. I immediately fell in love and have not stopped ever since that party.

What influences your designs?
I get inspiration with the items I see in everyday life my kids, my family, nature, and even with the events that are happening in my life. Everywhere I look. I can find inspiration.

How long do you spend on a layout?
Yeah…it could take me days!! to complete a layout.  I have to limit myself to only work on a page for 2 hours or I would never be completed with my layout. Ask my friends, I attend weekend retreats and only get 3 pages done.  Yeah. I am slow.  But if I am working on a deadline I can whip one out in an hour. (most of the time)

What does your work area look like while you are working on a project?
My work area is A TOTAL DISASTER!! My studio starts off clean but by the end of my project, paper is everywhere. The trash can is on its side, pens and scissors hidden under the paper or on the floor.  I have multiples of many different tools because I tend to lose them during the creating process. My kids know to stay out of mommy's room.I do clean everything up after ever project. (remember this could be days.)

What is your favorite color combination?
Black, Red and CREAM - My favorite color is RED. I tend to gravitate towards red and cream. My wedding was White and black with Red Roses.

Do you have any other hobbies?
I try to have other hobbies but I tend to lose interest in them quickly.  But for some reason I never get tired of scrapbooking. Crazy!! I do know how to play the piano.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Julie Jacob

Funny Girl Julie Jacob is up today on the blog and we're excited for you to get to know her, We asked Julie a few questions and here's what she had to say:

--What is your scrapbooking style?
This is a tough one for me.  I don't think I'm any one thing in particular.  I definitely lean more towards vintagey, layers, and lots of goodies...but then there's times where I like clean and simple too.  So I guess I'm eclectic, leaning towards vintage with some sparkle. :)

--How did you start scrapbooking?
I think my earliest books start with being pregnant with my oldest, who is now 16.  Back then it was pretty much paper and stickers.  I loved both.

--What influences your designs?
Mostly the photo(s) and what I want to say about them.  I usually start with them.  But every once in awhile, there will be a certain line that I love and am determined to use...and I will hunt for pictures to go with the papers. :)

--How long do you spend working on a layout?
Oh, sometimes hours...days!  There are times that layouts are painful for me.  Not kidding!  I am primarily a mini-book girl.  Most times I can do a mini book quicker than a layout. But every once in awhile, a layout will just seem to put itself together and it's done in an hour.  Not very often though.

--What does your work area look like while you are working on a project?
I like to start clean.  A nice (semi) empty work space.  I always have one of those big rip-off calendars on my desk...you know the kind you can get at the dollar store?  Don't laugh...I have some from 1993.  I like those because you can get them all messy...ink, adhesive, glitter, whatever...and then you can just rip the top sheet off, and you're clean and new again. So I always have to start with a clean paper on my desk. lol  It's usually a mess by the time I'm done, but that's ok.

--What is your favorite color combination?
I am liking gray and yellow lately.  But again, it depends on the pictures...that doesn't work so well if my son is wearing blue and orange.  Then again, that's why we have black and white photos, right?  I also love red.  And kraft cardstock.

--Do you have any other hobbies?
I am a reader (love my Nook!), I play the piano...love to play duets with Shelby on her flute.  Mostly my time is spent going to kids activities and sports...is that a hobby?

“Be a Good Sport” layout

by Julie Jacob

Products Used:

SE2309 Sports Edition II “Sport” - back
SE2307 Sports Edition II “Circle Tags” - back
SE2306 Sports Edition II “Tags” - front
SE2310 Sports Edition II Die-Cuts
SE2311 Sports Edition II Red Stars Transparency
SE2317 Sports Edition II Trims
BL1901 Blingage “Ty’s Stars”
White & red cardstock
White chipboard/foam letters
1-5x7 photo

Instructions for making:

1.  Use a 12x12 piece of white cardstock for the base of your layout.
2.  Mat your photo with red cardstock.
3.  Punch out ‘Play Hard’ piece from die-cut sheet and adhere to top left corner of photo.
4.  Cut 3-2x2 squares from the stars side of the “Circle Tags” paper.
5.  Cut 4-2x2 squares from the type side of the “Sport” paper.
6.  Cut 2-2x2 sqaures from the “Red Stars” transparency.  My third “square” was a little more like 1x2...it just depends on the space you have to fit it in to.
7.  Cut the ‘sport...no pain, no gain’ piece from the “Tags” paper.
8.  Now for the fun part.  Arrange your squares on your white cardstock.  You may have to play around with it a little.  Once you have them in place where you like them, adhere the squares and photo mat.
9.  Add ‘Be a good sport’ in white letters.  I used foam Thickers from American Crafts.
10.  Adhere 3 “Ty’s Stars” to 3 different stars on the transparency squares.  Glossy Accents works well for this.
11.  Cut a 12” piece of red ribbon from the trims and adhere on the right side of your layout.

Black & White Cardstock
Tim Holtz digits grungeboard
3- Winsor & Newton Artist’s Canvas (12x12)
1-Winsor & Newton Artist’s Canvas (6x12)
3-12x12 photos
Black Acrylic Paint
Narrow black ribbon & small hole punch
Red marker
Black ink pad
3D Foam Squares – thermoweb
Quick Grip Adhesive (liquid)

Instructions for making

1.  Decide how you want your canvases to be assembled.  I wanted mine in kind of staggered pattern.
2.  Using a foam brush, paint the edges of the canvases black.  A quick second coat is a good idea.  Let dry.
3.  Adhere the 12x12 photos to the 12x12 canvases with Quick Grip.  If there’s any extra picture hanging over the edge, trim with an Xacto knife.  Sand the edges, if desired.
4.  Next I ‘scrapped’ the 6x12 canvas.  Cut a 6x12 piece of “Tags” paper…using the back ‘grid’ side.  This will eventually be adhered to the canvas.  BUT…I strongly suggest doing all the work, and adhering it as your very last thing.
5.  Adhere a 2 1/2x12 piece of black cardstock towards the bottom of your grid paper.
6.  Center & adhere a 1 1/2x12 piece of “Sport” paper (the type print side) on the black cardstock.
7.  Detach the black ‘Sport’ die cut border from the bottom of the Die Cut sheet.  Sand edges, if desired and adhere in the center of the type paper.
8.  Adhere the red ‘All Star’ die cut ticket with 3D foam squares towards the right side of the layered strip you just made.
9.  Stick an “Ali’s Pin” through the foam square, so you can see the pretty clear end sticking out of your ticket.
10.  Stamp ‘Go Luke’ (well, probably your child’s name :)) as well as an extra L (or your letter) on white cardstock, color in letters with a red marker, and cut out.  Adhere to black cardstock (just a gluestick works great) and cut out again.  Adhere above the red ticket.
Now you can adhere the whole piece to the 6x12 canvas.
11.  Punch out ‘All Star’ chipboard piece and sand edges, if you like.
Adhere stamped monogram letter.
12.  Punch a small hole at the bottom of the ‘All Star’ piece.  Thread a silver star on black ribbon through the hole.  Adhere piece to canvas with 3D foam squares.
13.  For the next part, I custom made a stamp (No. 80 Touchdown!) for my project with the TC Stampmaker.  I stamped the image on white cardstock, inked the edges, and adhered it to a piece of the same type print paper (The back of the “Sport” paper) using 3D foam squares.  Then I matted the whole thing with black cardstock.
14.  Adhere (I used Glossy Accents) a ‘Ty’s Star’ to the stamped piece, and adhere the whole thing to the canvas.
15.  Adhere the “Red Stars” paper to the front of the grungeboard  (you can also use chipboard…whatever you have on hand) numbers.  Turn over and trim excess paper with an Xacto knife.  Sand edges.
16.  Screw the canvases together in your desired pattern.
17.  Adhere the numbers to the canvas (very tricky if you do this step before screwing the canvases together!)
Ta-da!  Enjoy! :)

SE2306 Sports Edition II “Tags” - both sides
SE2317 Sports Edition II Trims
SE2313 Sports Edition II Decorative Brads
Black cardstock
3 photos
Chipboard letters
Red acrylic craft paint & foam paint brush
Small alphabet stickers

Instructions for making:

1.  Use your 12x12 black cardstock for the base of the layout.
2.  Cut a 5 1/4x10 ½ piece of “Circle Tags” - the black star side.  Sand the edges if you like.
3.  Adhere on the right side of the black cardstock, leaving approx. 1” at the bottom and right sides.
4.  Cut a 4x8 ¾ piece of “Tags” paper...the back (grid) side.
5.  Adhere to the left of the star paper...towards the top, staggering a bit.
6.  Adhere photos...I trimmed mine down a little.  I started with 1-5x7 and 2-4x6’s.  Arrange in a staggered pattern.  (I experimented a lot before I stuck mine down.)
7.  Sew around one of the photos...or all of them. :)
8.  Cut a 12” piece of net trim.  Adhere it to the star paper where it will be hidden beneath the ‘Team’ piece.  Staple twice at each end.
9.  Cut out the ‘Team’ piece from the “Tags” paper and adhere with 3D foam squares.
10.  Add the decorative brads of your choice.  I used three.
11.  Cut out the ‘coach’ circle from the “Circle Tags” paper and adhere at the top of the larger photo.
12.  Using a foam brush, paint ‘TEAM’ chipboard letters with red paint.  Adhere under larger photo.
13.  Stick ‘Together Everyone Achieves More!’ in little stickers underneath chipboard letters.
14.  Sew a line over sticker letters.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Cheri Piles

Cheri Piles
We asked Cheri a few questions and this is what she had to say:

What is your scrapbooking style?   It depends on what I'm working with, I can be clean and simplistic to very embellished. I tend to lean towards more of a vintage style, I enjoy playing with inks and paints.
How did you start scrapbooking?   A friend of mine introduced it to me right after my daughter was born, 17 years ago.
What influences your designs?  I think it comes down to the pictures and then the paper I'm creating with. I read a lot of blogs about repurposed items, flea market finds, antique items - somehow I'm inspired by those types of things.
How long do you spend working on a layout?   HA! It could take me all day if I let it! There are times when everything comes together in an hour or even two. I like the process of creating so if I'm not working on a deadline I take my time, I don't like to race. I want to keep it and enjoy it for years to come so I'm good with my slow as a snail speed.
What does your work area look like when you are working on a project?  It's an organized mess actually. My tools, pens and such always end up to the right. My embellishments and papers are at the top side of the table and my inks, paints, stamps and scraps on the left.
What is your favorite color combination? I don't think I have a favorite, I'm drawn to different things at different times. I really like most colors, it would be easier to say I'm not a big fan of the color yellow.
Do you have any other hobbies? I like to quilt and play with fabric. I enjoy a good book. I like to play with pretty jewels and make jewelery.

Cheri is going to be teaching her new sports mini album at one of her local scrapbook stores (The Scrappy Stamper in Chehalis, WA) this May. She is teasing us with a few sneak peaks of her new class!

Thank you Cheri for showing us sneak peaks of your album. If you would like to learn more about Cheri you can find her... HERE.  Thanks Cheri for letting us get to know you better.

Teresa Collins Design Team - Getting to know Jamie Harper

We are so excited for you to meet Jamie Harper, we asked her a few questions and here's what she had to say:
Jamie Harper

  • What is your scrapbooking style?

  • Very clean and simple. I am not a cluttered kind of girl. I have always been neat and tidy and I think that carries over onto my scrapbook layouts. I don't think I even even tilt photos? hmmmmm may have to work on that one.

  • How did you start scrapbooking?

  • I actually started 16 years ago as a Creative Memories Consultant. I have been teaching ever since :) Strange to start as an instructor, but I actually had been scrapbooking from about the age of 5. I have so many albums from growing up.

  • What influences your designs?

  • Ad's, CD covers, photographs, sometimes even just a color. Everything influences my designs. Sometimes I see something driving and I just have to run home and create. And it is never the same process. My hands usually cannot keep up with my brain. I may start with an idea, sometimes I grab the photo first, and sometimes I have a layout done and all I need is a photo to match. I am kind of a wild woman when I am creating.

  • How long do you spend working on a layout?

  • Never more than 30 min. I do not hum and ha over anything. And I rarely ever change something on a layout. I just go go go. If I want to add something extra, like sewing or something I leave that part until later and just keep working on the next thing.

  • What does your work area look like while you are working on a project?

  • Usually pretty neat and tidy. I clean up as I go along or else my creativity gets blocked. So I have fun creating a layout and then clean up a bit and start fresh on the next layout.

  • What is your favorite color combination?
Grey with ANYTHING lately. Not sure why. But MOST of the time I am a blues and greens family. Our whole house is done in ocean tones. Very calm and soothing.

  • Do you have any other hobbies?

  • I cook every single day, most of my teenagers friends stop by a few times a week to eat at our house. At one point in time I was working on a cookbook, but family was more important. I LOVE to cook!!!! I am also a photographer. I am so passionate about capturing the bonds within each family that I meet. I try and capture the true personality of each member in the family and how they interact with each other.

Her layouts are amazing, be prepared to look them over a few times! Thanks Jamie!
